Monotype Systems

Ultara 36

Monotype Ultara 36 Imagesetting System

Introduction

The Ultara 36 imagesetting system is a workhorse for high volume and tight deadline production of documents up to 14.2 inches (360mm) wide. Recording at any of 10 resolutions up to 3048 dpi (1200 dpcm), with speeds up to over 53 inches (135.4cm) per minute, the Ultara 36 system creates high-quality images on film, RC paper, or paper- or polyester-based plate materials.

The Ultara 36 system includes two internal Page Buffer drives. These ensure data flow for constant-speed imaging and allow the system to literally run nonstop when a steady stream of pages are available. It can be equipped with Multiport Option to accept input from up to four Panther RIPs. Because each RIP interfaces via a SCSI-2 interface, systems of multiple RIPs and recorders can be configured to operate on a next available basis without an external multiplexer.

The Ultara 36 is supplied with one PantherRIP. Alternatively the Ultara 36 can be installed on any Laserbus system allowing it to be driven by RipExpress, PrintExpress or Combo RIP.

The Ultara 36 imagesetter has a repeatability specification of ±25µm (0.001") over eight plates up to 61cm (24 inches) deep, so color registration is accurate even for long pages, 2-up impositions, and extra spot colors.

Equipped with high-capacity supply and take-up cassettes, the Ultara 36 system requires little operator attention. Media is automatically cut when the take-up cassette is full -- but never in the middle of a page! For even more automated operation, an Ultara 36 recorder can optionally be interfaced to an online processor.

Computer to Plate: LDR is the premium provider of Computer-To-Plate (CTP) Technology to the graphic arts industry

What does Computer to Plate (CTP) mean?

Computer to plate means that your computer to plate digital computer to plate files transfer directly to computer-to-plate aluminum plate at 2400 dpi or more or less (depending on the computer to plate CTP equipment you use). Computer to plate means you get to computer to plate press faster. You don't need to use non (CTP) computer to plate cameras nor non computer-to-plate (CTP) stripping work.

Direct to Plate is another word for Computer to Plate: LDR offers direct to plate technology.

Direct-to-plate printing, also known as computer-to-plate printing, cuts out one of the steps involved in traditional printing. Traditional printing, aka offset lithography printing, produces film on an imagesetter. A metal plate (imagesetting plate) is made from that film.

Computer-to-Plate Experts: LDR International

It means no longer waiting for non computer to plate film in order to see computer to plate proofs. With computer to plate (CTP) technology, your computer-to-plate edits, computer-to-plate updates, (CTP) computer-to-plate reprints are effected with ease and speed compare to non computer to plate technology and non computer to plate processes as are the norm in pre computer to plate days and pre computer to plate converted printing shops. Computer to plate means computer to plate speed, CTP cost effectiveness and computer-to-plate accuracy. What are you waiting for? Get computer to plate technology now.
